Government 'must build homes'
People who are considering looking for property to rent in the London borough of Waltham Forest are learning about a UK body's calls for the new coalition government to honour its pledge to build more new houses across the country.
The Home Builder's Federation (HBF) has welcomed the appointment of Grant Shapps as housing minister but is surprised that, in the light of an industry crisis, the role was not made part of the cabinet.
HBF executive chairman Stewart Baseley said that a "framework" urgently needed to be put in place to tackle mortgage availability and help first-time buyers.
Earlier this year the National Housing Federation warned of a housing shortage in the UK, with fewer residential construction projects, according to its figures.
