The pupils at the latter are the highest achievers, with 93 per cent of children gaining the national average score in English and maths, and 97 per cent achieving this in science.

Students at St Pauls Academy and Plumstead Manor/Negus School in Greenwich do well at secondary level, with 58 per cent and 53 per cent respectively gaining five or more A* to C grades in their GCSEs.

The area is a World Heritage Site and is the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Meridian Line - all good reasons to check the place out.

Greenwich boasts an extremely strong maritime history, so there are some key exhibits and attractions on offer related to this such as the Maritime Museum, the famous Cutty Sark and Christopher Wren's Old Naval College.

Shopping in the area is fantastic as well, as there are so many quirky, independent retails, as well as street market stalls, meaning you'll be spoilt for choice if you're looking for some to add a touch of class to your new flat in Greenwich.

With Greenwich Park just on your doorstep as well, you could even enjoy a late-summer picnic in one of the most beautiful green spaces in the English capital.
