Youth arts celebrated by Islington residents
Youth arts are being celebrated by residents living in property to rent in the London borough of Islington, as well as other people in the area.
On Friday July 15th, the Platform Festival kicked off in Islington and it is set to run all the way through until July 31st.
The event has been created by 13 to 19-year-olds in the borough and it is aimed at the same demographic.
Almost 30 live events will make up the festival, including hip-hop, theatre and an impressive aerial play.
As well as this, there will be workshops on offer to those attending, with dance skills, drama and music among the free activities being held.
"Young people have been involved in all the decision-making. Effectively young people have curated this whole festival," said Suzanne Lee, artistic director of Islington arts charity All Change.
"The festival is a showcase of the work young people have created."
Recently, Islington Council announced it was conducting its biggest-ever housing survey, looking at the ways in which properties in the area should be managed in the future.
