Transport improvement boost for those seeking flats to rent in Islington
People seeking flats to rent in Islington may be about to receive a major boost from the allocation of additional funding to improve transport the borough.
London mayor Boris Johnson has agreed a fund of £2.6 million to be spent via Transport for London to make a range of enhancements to services.
Two safety and environmental projects will be benefitting from the cash, with £550,000 going to the Hornsey Road scheme - designed to benefit cyclists and pedestrians as well as improving road safety.
The Kings Cross and Caledonian scheme has similar aims and will receive £245,000, while £290,000 will be spent on the regeneration of Archway town centre.
Mr Johnson said the funding will enable London boroughs to "provide better cycling facilities and make roads safer across the Capital".
Islington's public transport facilities include three Tube lines - the Victoria, Northern and Piccadilly routes, as well as the London Overground.
