Town centres in Bromley to receive funding boost
Residents living in property to rent in the London borough of Bromley, and others in the area, are set to benefit from improvements made to town centres.
More than £400,000 has been awarded to the borough to allow it to fund initiatives which will boost the local economy.
The money has come from the Outer London Mayoral Fund and it will see new projects and existing schemes improved in Bromley, Orpington and Penge.
Councillor Stephen Carr, leader of Bromley Council, said the funding was "very welcome news" for the area.
"We recognise that we missed out in some areas but we will press on in round two and continue delivering support for all our town centres," he added.
Among other improvements, there will be better Christmas events and lights this year, as well as increased support for small and independent businesses in the borough.
Last month, the Environment PDS Committee called for proposals to charge blue badge holders to pay to use car parks operated by the council to be dropped.
