Thamesmead development moves step closer
The Thamesmead regeneration scheme has moved a step closer to completion with an important milestone in its development.
Denne Construction last week hosted a ceremony to mark the laying of the final piece of concrete in the Phoenix Point residential development on the old Boiler House site in Thamesmead.
The fanfare follows a similar event late last year which saw the completion of major construction work on the Ringside Court development, formerly known as the Boxing Club.
Costing a total of £14 million, the two developments mark just one facet of the wider Thamesmead regeneration project, which Greenwich Council has said be comprised mainly of one and two-bedroom apartments.
Ian Beckett, director of development at Gallions Housing Association, told the News Shopper: "Once this building has been completed, it will provide much needed accommodation.
"It will also be a new focal point for Thamesmead, not only due to its location, but also its eye-catching design. We are aiming to create homes and communities that people are proud off. This new development will go a long way to helping achieve that."
