Tenants 'looking for British Christmas dinner'
People are still keen to buy British food despite the recession, even if it is perceived as more expensive, it has been claimed.
Alexia Robinson, founder of Love British Food, said that while consumers were looking for value for money, taste, freshness and quality were all food factors they were willing to pay for.
She added that this was a typical trend during times of recession, when customers wanted to purchase produce which is homely and familiar.
"Expect to see seasonal vegetables, cheaper cuts of meat, Granny's favourite recipes, game and imaginative use of leftovers," Ms Robinson explained.
Such news may be welcomed by people looking for property to rent in Notting Hill - where there is an expansive open air market - or other areas of London, as people in the capital have the benefit of access to a wide range of food.
And such markets may prove valuable over the festive period as according to mySupermarket.co.uk, shoppers hoping to enjoy a recession-friendly Christmas spread this year may have to pay a bit more for their seasonal supermarket shop than in 2008.
