Stockwell Festival begins this weekend
Families living in property to rent in Lambeth are invited to join in the fun at the Stockwell Festival this Saturday (September 17th).
As usual, the event is taking place in Larkhall Park and is even spreading to the Oasis Nature Garden, Go Kart track and Adventure Playground this year.
During the day, there will be dance displays and family games including an egg and spoon contest, plus three-legged and sack races.
Music will be provided by the Southside Harmonics steel band, the Glenbuck Cherry Pickers blue grass band and jazz outfit Marcina Arnold & the Love Rats.
There will be "dance moves galore" from Dance Starz and C0MB1N4T10N plus a performance from acrobatic cheerleaders Fyer Flyz.
Street dance troupe Confusion will also set out to prove that women over the age of 35 have "still got the moves".
The peace parade around the park will be led by Lady Pineapple and her baby pineapples, starting at Oasis Adventure Playground.
Drummers from Lambeth Music Service will accompany the parade alongside local dancers and performance artists.
Everyone is invited to join in with the interactive art workshops to make peace flags and dove masks for the parade.
Meanwhile, in the Sustainability Zone, the Friends of Larkhall Park are to unveil the latest addition to the area, an Urban Gym.
In addition, the Master Gardeners will be on hand to offer growing tips, with Dr Bike ready to fix your bicycle up for free.
Food and drink will be provided by a range of vendors, from the Caribbean and Chilli Bar to the hot dog stand.
There will also be plenty of arts and crafts stalls to browse around.
Stockwell festival runs from 13:00 to 18:00 BST, with a theme of peace, inclusion and cohesion.
