Spurs planning new stadium
Those living in the London borough of Haringey could be in for a boost to the economy and facilities following news that Tottenham Hotspur has announced plans to build a new stadium.
Known as the Northumberland Development project, the plan will involve the expansion of the club's existing White Hart Lane site, with the new arena hosting 60,000 spectators, a similar number to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.
The club has said the scheme is a "potential catalyst for wider regeneration and further investment", with shops, homes and public space being provided as part of the undertaking.
Club chairman Daniel Levy described the plan as providing "a world class scheme and substantial new investment for Haringey".
Leader of Haringey Council George Meehan commented that the authority will be working with the club to ensure the scheme delivers "real benefits" for locals.
Tottenham are currently bottom of the Premier League but managed to secure a 4-4 draw in the North London derby with Arsenal this week after scoring two late goals.
Last weekend the club appointed Harry Redknapp as its new manager.
