Southwark residents to have say on future of libraries
People living in property to rent in the London borough of Southwark are to share their views on the library service being offered in the area.
A borough-wide consultation has been launched asking people to voice what they would like to see changed so that Southwark Council can maintain a high-quality library service.
This comes in the face of nearly £400,000 worth of cuts that the council has to make in its library service over the next three years.
Councillor Veronica Ward, cabinet member for culture, leisure, sport and the Olympics at Southwark Council, said: "What I hope to do with this review is make sure people are fully informed of the situation but also able to see this as a potential opportunity to change the service for the better."
Earlier in the month, Southwark Council revealed that it was continuing to build new social and affordable homes in the area, despite the poor economic climate.
