Southwark consultation focuses on safety of people in flats to rent
People who are looking for flats to rent in the London borough of Southwark may be encouraged to hear the local authorities are looking to improve safety for residents.
Southwark Council has launched a major consultation with occupants as to ways in which violent crime can be prevented.
This form of criminal activity has declined in the area over the last five years, but councillor John Friary said it is still important to take active measures to bring it down further.
"One of our key pledges as a new administration was to draw up a strategy on violent crime and I'm pleased this is now underway," he explained.
Residents have been asked to complete a form on such incidents, which the council said will become a "key part of the consultation".
The organisation recently launched a new recycled food waste pilot scheme in parts of the borough, with hopes the move will see more refuse making it to landfills.
