Social care standard 'is high in Islington'
The standard of social care that is provided to vulnerable and disabled people living in flats to rent in the London borough of Islington is high.
This is according to government watchdog the Care Quality Commission's annual performance assessment, which described Islington Council's social workers as "performing well".
One of the strengths highlighted by the report was the council's policy of supporting older adults in their own homes for as long as possible.
Councillor Janet Burgess, Islington Council executive member for health and adult social care, said: "We are putting people first. It's extremely important to us that vulnerable adults enjoy high standards of personal dignity and respect in the care services they receive from the council."
Islington Council has prioritised increasing the number of people wearing and using Telecare pendants in the borough.
Last month, Islington Council announced that it and Camden Council were still exploring the possibility of sharing a chief executive and senior management team in order to meet spending cuts.
