Redbridge landlords urged to help residents
Landlords are being urged to help those living in property to rent in the London borough of Redbridge to stay in their homes.
The property owners are being asked to see whether changes to the housing benefit affect their tenants.
They are also being urged to reduce their rents and, if they do so, they will receive the housing benefit directly from the local council.
"Housing benefit changes came into force from April 1st 2011 for anyone making a new benefit claim and anyone with a change in circumstances. The changes mean residents may receive less cash than before," Redbridge Council explains.
All of those who are to be affected by the changes will receive a letter outlining their new situation.
The council is currently urging all of those living in the area, including those in flats to rent in the London borough of Redbridge, to put people forward to become London 2012 Torchbearers.
