Plans for Stokley Court revealed
Plans for a sheltered housing complex in Hornsey have been revealed to those living in flats to rent in the London borough of Haringey by the local council.
Stokley Court on Brook Road is to be transformed into a Community Good Neighbour scheme.
The tenants of the development will benefit from regular visits from a community scheme officer, who will monitor their wellbeing.
Each flat will be fitted with an individual alarm system and emergency help will be available throughout the day and night.
The complex is currently not suitable for those who are less mobile, as it does not have a lift.
Those who now live in the building will have the option to stay in their current flats or move just over the road to Bedale Court.
Councillor John Bevan, cabinet member for housing at Haringey Council, said: "We want to improve living conditions for older people in the borough and to provide homes that are accessible and meet modern standards as well as the needs of residents."
Last month, proposals for the future of Hornsey Town Hall were revealed and welcomed by Haringey Council's Cabinet.
