Performing arts hub to open for residents of Islington
A performing arts hub is to open for residents of property to rent in the London borough of Islington later this year.
It will be located on the site of the former Hornsey Road Baths in N7, which has been disused since 1991.
The hub, which is to be known as Platform, will be managed by a consortium of three organisations: Changemakers, Trestle Theatre Company and Isledon Partnership.
Councillor Richard Watts, Islington Council's executive member for children and young people, said: "We want to give young people in Islington the best start in life, and that includes making sure they have high quality, exciting and safe places to spend time."
He went on to say that Platform will offer young people access to a variety of services and a range of performing arts and media activities.
Last month, government figures confirmed that Islington achieved its best ever GCSE results in 2010, with 72 per cent of students in the area gaining five or more A*- C grades.
