Lambeth residents to get say on housing
Those who choose to rent in Lambeth will get the opportunity to have their say on how the council formulates its housing strategy, it has been revealed.
In an announcement today the council said it is looking to create 6,000 new homes in the borough, with key considerations including tackling climate change, increasing access to housing and "creating mixed and sustainable communities".
Those who prefer to rent may be able to contribute to policies that enhance the role this sector can play in meeting the housing needs of those who dwell in the borough.
It is one of several consultations being undertaken by the council, which launched one last week to consider residents' views on the development of the Waterloo and Vauxhall areas on the south bank of the Thames.
Lambeth's consultation on housing comes a week after London mayor Boris Johnson launched his flexible strategy for new home building across the capital, which involves negotiating targets with each borough.
