Islington residents 'to benefit' from computer recycling scheme
People living in Islington may benefit from a new small-scale scheme which allows low-income households to receive a recycled council computer, Tech Watch has reported.
The council-led initiative - which could potentially be available to people living in property to rent in Islington - hopes to reduce the "digital divide" in the borough, the publication reported.
All the donated PCs come with Microsoft Office installed and offer links to recruitment opportunities and training programmes in the area.
Islington is home to more than 180,000 people and the council's website praises its "community feel".
Last weekend (Sunday July 19th), Islington hosted its Big Lunch event - during which people are encouraged to sit and share a meal with their neighbours to generate community spirit.
The Nationwide community event featured a range of activities and was organised by the Eden Project.
Other ongoing community projects in the borough include the Organic Cafe at the Islington Ecology Centre and a number of summer festivals.
