Islington residents have say on community
Those living in flats to rent in Islington have had the chance to share their views on the borough with other members of the community, it would seem.
According to Islington Council, people living in this area of North London have taken part in a consultation with local businesses and community groups on how to improve neighbourhoods in the region.
The local authority indicated that under the Sustainable Communities Act 2007, councils have the power to talk to residents and lodge proposals for government action through changes in legislation.
Such a chance to help shape a community may be something that those looking for property to rent in London may find attractive when choosing where in the capital they want to live.
Some of the issues brought up by this particular meeting included the necessity of protecting local shopping areas and giving the council the final word when it comes to controlling the number of off-licenses and gambling premises in the borough.
Terry Stacy, leader of Islington Council, said: "We've submitted our top 12 ideas - now we want to see some government action."
Meanwhile, Islington is one of this year's finalists for the In Bloom competition in the UK, which may be another attraction for people looking for a property to rent in London.
