Islington 'resident roamer' scheme approved
A scheme to provide more freedom to park to those in flats to rent in the London borough of Islington and other local residents has been given the green light.
Islington Council's 'resident roamer' initiative, which lets resident permit holders park in any resident parking bay between 11:00 and 15:00 on Mondays to Saturdays, will start on February 28th.
The only time exceptions apply when Arsenal play at home or have official events, when certain bays around the Emirates Stadium will not be available.
Paul Smith, Islington Council's executive member for environment, commented: "We're on our residents' side and our roamer scheme will be of great benefit for people who want to make short local visits."
He added that the new system will be more convenient than the current method and said it will save local residents money.
Last week, Islington Council announced that work is to start on the new Citizens Advice Bureau on Upper Street, which will offer guidance to those in flats to rent in the London borough of Islington and others.
