Islington cafe shows commitment to healthier food
People living in property to rent in Islington, and others in the London borough, are set to benefit from the healthier food which will be served at the cafe at Freightliners Farm.
It has become the first venue to sign up to Islington Council's Healthier Catering Commitment, which is trying to encourage food outlets in the area to use less salt and saturated fat in their food.
Customers will be alerted to the fact the cafe is trying to boost healthy eating, as it has a sticker on the door showing it is part of the initiative.
Funding for the scheme is coming from the British Heart Foundation, which has given £100,000 to the cause.
"Making healthier food available to all people in Islington is an important part of the council's fairness agenda," explained councillor Paul Smith, executive member for the environment at the council.
Earlier this month, local businesses in Islington helped to give Moreland Primary School a complete makeover, painting the facility and tidying up its gardens.
