Islington backing for daytime Emirates concerts
Islington Council has declared its backing for the idea of holding daytime music concerts at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium.
The authority has given the club permission to host three such events next year, after it held a Bruce Springsteen gig in May, the Islington Gazette reports.
Commenting on the decision to agree such a move, chairman of the town hall licensing panel Stefan Kasprzyk said: "The impact of noise is much less before 9pm and concerns of residents could be met if concerts were held earlier in the day."
Such a situation could be beneficial to those who rent a house or flat in Islington, as they will not face the disturbance of a late-night concert at the venue.
Originally known as Woolwich Arsenal, Arsenal moved to the Emirates Stadium two years ago, having played at nearby Highbury since their cross-river move in 1913.
