Individuals occupying flats to rent in Brent may have taken part in Diwali festival
Individuals occupying flats to rent in the London borough of Brent may have taken part in the Diwali celebrations held in the area.
A total of 60,000 revellers took to the streets of Wembley, where they witnessed musicians, costumed dances and a parade of floats.
In addition to a rangoli exhibition that was held throughout the afternoon, the event also showcased traditional Indian dance styles including Bharatyam Odissi, Kathak and Kuchioudi, which were performed by 13 different groups.
Mayor of Brent Harbhajan Singh observed the council has been arranging Diwali festivals for the past 18 years.
"We continue to be one of the most diverse communities where residents enjoy celebrating and learning about each others cultures," he added.
Known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali celebrates the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.
Playing cards is a popular part of the festivities as it is believed those competing in the game will be smiled upon by the goddess of wealth.
