Hendon: A nice slice of north London
Boasting its very own golf club and football team, along with oodles of pleasant bars and restaurants, Hendon is an area with plenty to offer for individuals and families looking for property to rent in London.
Situated just seven miles north of the centre of the UK capital, this pleasant part of the borough of Barnet has a little bit of everything.
Its excellent transport links (including the start of the M1) make it easy to travel to and from.
On top of that, it is less than half an hour away from the centre of London and all the entertainment you could wish for.
Closer to home, Hendon itself has some great restaurants, most notable of which are the Original Lahore on Brent Street - a real taste of authentic India - and Valentino's Italian Restaurant on Watford Way.
The Greyhound Pub on Church End in the old village is a true local favourite when it comes to going out for a drink, while The Claddagh Ring on Church Road and The Gallery on Hendon Way provide entertainment later into the night.
For sport lovers, Hendon Golf Course is just one of the many places to participate in the area.
It was designed in 1925 by Henry Colt, the man who created Wentworth and the New Course at Sunningdale and remodelled British Open venues Muirfield, Lytham and Royal Portrush.
Its clubhouse has recently been refurbished and its facilities, including its immaculately-kept greens, are first-class.
Meanwhile, local heroes Hendon Football Club currently ply their trade in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Formed in 1908, the Greens enjoyed a golden era in the 1960s and 1970s, culminating in an appearance in the FA Cup third round in 1974 where they lost to eventual finalists Newcastle United.
Many of London's most celebrated attractions are close by too. Wembley Stadium is just a short bus ride away, as are leafy Highgate and Hampstead.
Golders Green is a few minutes up the road as well and Fryent Country Park is practically on the doorstep.
This 103-hectare slice of traditional Middlesex countryside is a wonderful place for a day out.
For people who are after a nice part of London to rent property in, with brilliant access to the rest of London and, indeed, the rest of the UK, look no further than Hendon.
