Haringey residents urged to join floral bicycle parade
People living in flats to rent in Haringey have been invited to adorn their bikes with flowers in a bid to recreate the floral bicycle parade that took place in the borough in 1951 for the Festival of Britain.
A 2011 version of the event is taking place this Sunday (August 28th), leaving from Bruce Castle Museum at 14:00 BST and heading for the Southbank, where participants will join other cyclists on a circuit around the Southbank Centre.
It is all part of the Story of London festival, which this year celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain.
The Story of London Festival runs until the end of August and is curated by the Museum of London.
Haringey has been marking the anniversary of the Festival of Britain - a national exhibition which opened in London and around Britain in May 1951 - throughout August with displays and free events at venues including Hornsey Library.
