Haringey play facilities to undergo makeovers
Play facilities used by children living in property to rent in the London borough of Haringey are to undergo a £774,000 makeover.
Existing facilities at Ducketts Common, Wood Green Common, Down Lane Park, Markfield Park and Stationer's Park are currently being improved.
Play areas at three housing estates are also gaining a face-lift, with the addition of new equipment.
Some £377,000 of the funding was provided by the Department for Education and Haringey Council contributed £275,000.
Councillor Dilek Dogus, cabinet member for adults and community services at Haringey Council, emphasised that playgrounds are important for families.
"Despite the current financial constraints on the council, we decided to make a contribution to the scheme, otherwise these improvements would not have been possible," he added.
Earlier this month, children from Risley Avenue Primary School, which is in Tottenham in the London borough of Haringey, got the chance to visit the United States Embassy in Grosvenor Square.
