Those seeking flats to rent in Islington may be able to enjoy a leafier environment following the publication of a proposed new council policy on trees.
Councillors will discuss the plans at a meeting in the next few days, with a poll of local residents revealing 91 per cent of people want to see more trees.
The blueprint would see more trees planted, with an emphasis on larger trees providing greater levels of shade except where it is appropriate to install smaller ones.
And trees will only be cut down when necessary, such as when one becomes dangerous or diseased.
This may help improve air quality as well as levels of greenness in the densely-populated borough.
Council policies aimed at being green when it comes to trees have extended to a service being provided to recycle old Christmas trees, something many will be doing now the traditional time has come for decorations to come down.
