Cyclists in Redbridge set to benefit from improvements
Cyclists living in property to rent in Redbridge will soon be able to enjoy greatly improved junctions and more parking areas as part of a new scheme.
Redbridge Council has teamed up with Sustrans, a charity that enables people to make their journeys by walking, bike or public transport, to embark on a series of projects over the next three years.
Funded by Transport for London, these initiatives include revamping junctions to make them safer, creating new cycle parking in residential areas, schools, sporting facilities, civic amenities, local clinics and dentists.
It will also involve cooperation with local businesses to encourage them to develop travel plans.
"This project is going to make a real difference to how people make their everyday journeys," Sustrans cycling promotion officer Emilie Charlesworth remarked. "As well as providing training for people we hope to make school children feel more comfortable about riding their bikes. We will also be informing local people about the different cycle routes and facilities available to them."
Book lovers in the area may be interested to hear that the first ever East London Libraries Festival is on now until October 14th.
