Advice for tenants of property to rent in London
People living in property to rent in Camden, flats to rent in Fulham and other residences across London and the UK may wish to heed the latest professional advice from Tenancy Deposit Solutions' mydeposits.co.uk.
According to research cited by the organisation, many tenants are still "clueless" about deposit protection and there are some renters who do not even know that a tenancy deposit protection law exists.
It is vital that anyone setting up home in a property rent in London or anywhere else in the UK ensures their deposit is held in the government-led scheme, as this system prevents landlords from refusing to repay the cash at the end of a tenancy.
Eddie Hooker, chief executive of mydeposits.co.uk, said: "A protected deposit gives tenants the chance to raise a dispute at the end of the tenancy if they feel their landlord has unfairly withheld it."
He added that tenants also gain access to a free and impartial dispute resolution service.
The government introduced the initiative in 2006 and it is a legal requirement for all Letting Agents and landlords to use the system.
