US Olympic team to train in Waltham Forest
Those living in flats to rent in the London borough of Waltham will share their local area with the US Olympic team next year.
An agreement has been formed between the US Olympic Committee and the Sports Club Orient (Score) Centre under which the team will be able to use training facilities in the borough for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The American athletes will train at the Score Centre in Leyton for five weeks in July and August next year, prior to and during the Games.
"I'm delighted the US Olympic team has chosen Leyton as a training base for the Olympic Games," said councillor Chris Robbins, leader of Waltham Forest Council.
He went on to say that he hopes the "highly trained and motivated athletes" will inspire young people in the borough to take up exercise.
Back in January, a multi-million pound construction training centre in Leyton officially opened.
The £7.24 million centre is located on Cathall Road.
