Unemployment 'rising in UK'
The number of people of working age in paid employment was 72.5 per cent for the three months to July 2009, the Office for National Statistics has announced.
This is the lowest level to be recorded since 1997 and down 0.8 per cent on the previous quarter and 2.1 per cent over the year.
Meanwhile, the total number of people in employment for the three months to July this year was 28.89 million, down 217,000 over the quarter.
In addition, the number of vacancies available has also fallen.
With this in mind, Britons may find that property to rent in Kensington or other boroughs of London is a more affordable option than buying while money may be tight.
This is because landlords may have the insurance in place to ensure that they are covered if people cannot afford to pay their rent for a couple of months.
