Support shown to private rented sector
property to rent in Chelsea, flats to rent in Southwark and letting residences elsewhere in the UK have an important role to play in helping the housing market recover from its current poor state, it would seem.
Keshav Thukaram, managing director of buy-to-let products and services website Smartlandlord.co.uk, has suggested that making rental property available to consumers is vital to the overall health of the industry.
"The private rented sector has a major role to play in pulling the housing market out of the current slump and in housing people in years to come," the expert commented.
However, he also warned of the potential problems tenants may face in light of the current economic crisis.
With unemployment on the rise - it surpassed 2.4 million in the UK last month - there is a risk that renters may lose their jobs and be unable to pay their rent.
