Rogue landlords 'can be dealt with swiftly'
Local authorities need to work more closely with landlords across the country, the shadow housing minister for the Conservative party has asserted.
Grant Shapps reaffirmed the party's commitment to establishing a close working relationship between landlords and Local councils while speaking at a joint reception at the Conservative Party Conference between Crisis - the national charity for single homeless people - and the National Landlords Association (NLA).
He also welcomed working with the NLA.
David Salusbury, chairperson if the NLA, said: "There are now sufficient rules and regulations in place to ensure that the minority of rogue operators in the sector can be dealt with swiftly and effectively."
Such news may offer peace of mind to Britons looking for flats to rent in Shoreditch or other boroughs of London who wish to ensure their rights will be protected throughout the tenancy.
And renting may be a more affordable option than buying, after Paul Holmes, chief executive of Firstrung, said rising unemployment has made things difficult for first-time buyers.
