Resident of Tower Hamlets property wins cash
A resident of property in Tower Hamlets has been awarded £100 - just by paying her council tax.
Monica Mannan, who lives in Whitechapel, was selected at random for the prize and said that the money will make a "big difference".
People who pay their council tax by Direct Debit in Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Newham and Tower Hamlets were all in contention to win the £100, as well as other financial prizes.
This would have included residents of flats to rent in Barking & Dagenham and other nearby areas such as Bow, Bethnal Green and Mile End.
Lead member for resources at Tower Hamlets Council Ohid Ahmed said: "Whilst this competition is a bit of fun, it's also an important way of encouraging people to consider Direct Debit for their payments."
He added that the process is "quick, easy and secure", and helps the local council keep costs down.
