Property to rent in Hackney could be in conservation area
A new conservation area could allow those living in property to rent in Hackney to feel confident that their surroundings will remain attractive for the long term.
The London borough of Hackney has published the details of the new Hackney Road Conservation Area.
property to rent in Hackney Road itself could fall under its jurisdiction, along with homes between the borders of Whiston Road to the north and Waterson Street to the south.
Haggerston Park and Goldsmith's Row also come within the area covered by the borough's 28th conservation zone.
Cabinet member for regeneration Councillor Guy Nicholson comments: "Conservation areas are an important part of our borough's heritage."
He adds that they represent "a cross-section of the best surviving examples of different aspects of development from housing, industrial areas, open spaces and town centres".
The London borough of Hackney has also been granted ten Green Flag awards from cleanliness campaign Keep Britain Tidy.
Based on the standard of the borough's parks and gardens, the figure is nine more than was awarded to Hackney four years ago.
