Permission sought for Newham regeneration development
Planning permission has been sought for a new regeneration project in the London borough of Newham.
Countryside Properties has announced it has submitted a blueprint for the development of Area 3 a zone in the Custom House vicinity in Canning Town.
The plan will involve the creation of 649 homes, of which 422 are designed for sale and the rest as affordable housing.
While many may not have the means to buy one of these new apartments, renting may be an attractive option in the area, especially as new projects connected with the Olympics could help with the overall regeneration of the area.
One recent initiative that may help in this regard involves the cleaning up of litter in the borough.
The council announced last month that it was to set up a 'name and shame' scheme for those caught dropping litter, with the names of offenders being published in the council's magazine and on its website, the London Daily News reported.
