Mortgage finance 'a concern' as prices rise in May
Property to rent in the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham or elsewhere in the UK could be in greater demand after an industry body admitted there continuing concerns about mortgage availability and a fall in sales.
Ian Perry, a spokesperson for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), said that industry professionals were more confident of a pick up in housing sales, despite more of its members reporting a rise in prices during May.
RICS revealed that although there was an increase in buyer interest during that month, the number of completed sales actually fell by nearly five per cent.
This follows comments by a spokesperson for PricedOut.org.uk, who called for the government to put the issue of affordable housing high on its agenda.
Meanwhile, the National Housing Federation suggested that proposed planning reforms and funding cuts would be a "devastating blow" to the building of social homes and predicted construction would fall by 65 per cent this year.
