Mayor in crime pledge
London mayor Boris Johnson has pledged a crackdown on youth crime.
Speaking today, the mayor said he did not have all the answers, but would be engaged in major efforts to lower offending in the capital.
He stated: "We need to step up our policing operations, reach out to disengaged young people and give them the opportunities and motivation to steer clear of trouble and reach their full potential."
Mr Johnson was meeting today with families bereaved in crime and organisations dealing with the issue.
A successful initiative could help to make London a better place in which to rent.
The latest crime map from the Metropolitan Police, dating from August, shows that the boroughs with the lowest crime rates in London include Harrow.
It had less burglaries, robberies and vehicle crimes per capita than any other borough north of the Thames.
This may make Harrow a particularly desirable location for some to seek a home to rent.
