London borough males live longest
Men and women in the borough of Kensington & Chelsea live the longest of any authority in Britain, new figures have revealed.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics showed that the average life expectancies for the whole of London were 77.9 years for men and 82.4 for women, both above the national average.
In Kensington & Chelsea, however, the average for men was 83.7 and for women it was 87.8, both longer than anywhere else.
The next highest London borough was Westminster, which was second for men at 81.5 years and fifth for women at 84.6.
Overall, the pattern was for people to live longer in London and the south, with the lowest longevity being in Scotland and the north.
However, those who want to live in the borough may be best off renting at present, as house prices have fallen sharply.
Land Registry data showed that prices in the borough fell two per cent in September.
