Lewisham residents offered apprenticeships
People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Lewisham and other types of property in the area are being offered the chance to apply for apprenticeships.
The Lewisham Apprenticeship Scheme is advertising as many as 40 new vacancies online.
These programmes provide young people in the borough with more opportunities to earn a wage as they learn new skills.
Sir Steve Bullock, Lewisham's mayor, said he was "delighted" that more apprenticeship opportunities had been made available.
"It's vitally important, especially in these difficult economic times, that we do all we can to support and invest in young people to ensure their potential isn't lost," he said.
The people who are chosen for the apprenticeships will each receive an annual salary of £14,350, as well as a £500 bonus at the end of the programme.
Last month, people aged 16 and under, and 60 and over, living in flats to rent in the London borough of Lewisham and other types of property in the area, were told that they will continue to benefit from the Free Swim programme.
