House prices 'could rise 5%'
A five per cent rise in house prices during 2010 "looks possible", it has been claimed.
And while house prices will go up, Assetz also predicted that next year will see property supply continue to be poor.
Such news may prompt Britons to look for flats to rent in Blackheath or another part of London, which could be both more affordable than buying a home and also see people have more to choose from.
Francis Ghiloni, commercial director at realpricecomparison.com, said prices have fallen over the last 18 months, which could put buyers in a more favourable position.
However, he added: "The mortgage market is reviving, but new rules on affordability and caution among lenders will act as a brake on any reckless lending for a long time to come."
Such comments may also help to convince Britons that renting could remain a more affordable option for them for the coming months.
