Honeywood Museum restoration fund boosted
The Honeywood Museum restoration fund has been boosted to more than £790,000 thanks to a donation from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This body recently announced that it is to award the project another £301,000, which will allow the public, including those living in property to rent in the London borough of Sutton, to access more of the museum.
Councillor Graham Tope, executive member for community safety, leisure and libraries at Sutton Council, said: "This is excellent news and means the restoration project at Honeywood Museum will now be even bigger and better."
Projects being undertaken at the grade II listed building include remedial work on damp and the installation of new exhibitions in rooms in the north corridor and ground floor.
Also, an old staircase that is currently blocked will be reopened and new learning facilities for children will be created.
Back in March, the Whitehall Museum in Cheam, Sutton, was crowned one of the greenest museums in London.
