Help for those choosing flats to rent in Stratford highlighted
Steps being taken by Newham Council to help residents through the current economic downturn have been highlighted.
Minister for London Tony McNulty visited the Stratford area of the borough and saw how the authority's Workplace initiative has helped over 2,000 people find jobs.
Sir Robin Wales, the mayor of Newham, outlined various measures that are in place to help businesses as well as individuals, including initiatives that could benefit those looking for flats to rent in Stratford.
Among them is a freezing of council tax and Sir Robin remarked: "We all face having to tighten our belts in the current economic climate, but we are doing everything we can to help people and businesses."
Last month, Ofsted recognised a primary school in Newham as being one of the leading education providers in England, giving it a rating of 'outstanding'.
The watchdog's chief inspector, Christine Gilbert, explained that such schools inspire both pupils and the wider community.
