Hackney residents urged to bid for up to £50k grants
People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Hackney are being urged to attend an event at which they can learn how to get their hands on grants of up to £50,000.
Those who are members of voluntary and community groups are being asked to visit Hackney Town Hall on Thursday June 30th from 10:00 BST.
This event will act as the launch of the Hackney Council Voluntary and Community Sector Grants Programme for 2012/13.
Groups can apply for small grants up to £7,000, holiday project grants of as much as £10,000 and main grants of up to £50,000.
Councillor Jonathan McShane, Hackney Council's cabinet member for health, social care and culture, said: "Hackney's voluntary and community sector plays an extremely important role in helping to support some of our most vulnerable residents."
He went on to encourage all those interested in applying to "attend the launch event where they will be offered information and support".
Earlier this week, Hackney Council launched a programme of free events called Parks for Life, to be held in the borough's green areas.
