Hackney council boosts employment through "ground-breaking" initiative
Those living in the London borough of Hackney have been found to be benefiting from a scheme aimed at helping people find jobs.
According to Hackney Council, the Ways into Work initiative has been providing training and support for the unemployed, being run through a partnership with a number of bodies, including recruitment companies.
And as a result, 250 people have found work since the programme's launch six months ago.
Commenting on the success, Hackney Council cabinet member for regeneration and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Guy Nicholson said: "Hackney Council is leading a ground-breaking jobs initiative, investing in the borough's residents. Ways into Work sees a new approach to partnership working to tackle unemployment."
In addition to training, residents have been offered interview tips as well as ongoing support once in a job.
Hackney is one of the 11 boroughs to benefit from a share a £330,000 to reduce alcohol-related problems, it was announced last week.
