Greenwich residents to benefit from EV charging points
Those living in property to rent in the London borough of Greenwich will soon notice charging points for electric vehicles being installed in their neighbourhoods.
The charging stations, or 'elektrobays', are to be installed in more than a dozen locations across the borough, Greenwich Council announced this week.
On-street elektrobays have already been fitted in Blissett Street, Horseferry Place, Messetter Place and John Harrison Way and will very shortly be in use for those who already own electric vehicles.
Councillor Rajwant Sidhu, cabinet member for greener Greenwich, explained that these vehicles emit around 40 per cent less carbon dioxide than petrol equivalents.
"They are an increasingly popular transport choice, and the development of a wider network of charging points helps make them even more attractive," he added.
Earlier this week, the council announced to those living in flats to rent in the London borough of Greenwich that a pilot trial scheme to provide council tenants with free solar panels was underway.
