Greenford Hall in Uxbridge to reopen after renovation

Greenford Hall in Uxbridge to reopen after renovationResidents of flats to rent in Greenford will see a range of new and improved amenities open to them following the re-opening of the local Greenford Hall over the festive period.

Ealing Council has applied the finishing touches to a £1 million renovation of the facility on Ruislip Road and is planning to reopen the centre before Christmas, a move that is expected to pave the way for a range of new community events.

The hall is home to some of the 13 venues offered for rental by the council to local residents, hosting functions including weddings and celebrations, as well as business conferences and training sessions.

In order to enhance the usability of the hall, Ealing Council embarked on a comprehensive remodelling and refurbishment project, during which its main auditorium was extended, while its kitchen and catering facilities received enhancements.

Moreover, the venue's stage has received an upgrade, while a second function room is now available for medium-sized events and two smaller ones for minor events.

The additions are set to benefit the local community in various ways, as the hall is now suitable for wedding receptions, live performances and theatrical shows, thus helping the council to bring in more money for bookings and minimise the costs of running the hall.

Hanwell and Ealing Operatic Society will be the first to take advantage of the expanded stage size available at the hall, giving a festive pantomime performance of Snow White this month.

Council leader Julian Bell said: "The hall really has become a landmark since it opened in the sixties, but it was starting to look tired and no longer met the needs of the community.

"I'm delighted that despite the tough Financial Times we've been able to carry out this major upgrade."
