Government scheme 'helping' businesses and residents of property in Newham
Londoners are benefiting from steps being taken to ensure they remain in employment, it has been stated.
Financial secretary to the Treasury Stephen Timms visited the borough of Newham to investigate the steps that are being taken.
And he noted that the government's Real Help Now initiative - designed to support businesses in identifying alternatives to making employees redundant as well as help consumers find jobs - has been successful.
"I am very pleased that Newham has signed up to a target covering all London boroughs on apprenticeships and is promoting their use among suppliers and local businesses," said Mr Timms.
Those living in flats to rent in Stratford who are looking for work could benefit from the measures, as well as a recent announcement that funding is to be provided for training across London.
A total of £26.5 million is being invested by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills, in an effort to help people find and keep jobs.
