Flats to rent in Merton may be popular as street proves Britain's costliest
Those wondering whether to rent or buy in Merton may find the former option is definitely the wisest due to local house prices, with the borough having the most expensive street in the UK.
According to Lloyds TSB, the costliest average price for any street is the £5,058,000 for Parkside, which is close to the All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon.
Those looking to rent property in the London borough of Merton may note Parkside is not alone in being among the costliest, with Cedar Park Gardens being seventh on the list.
London as a whole has a high proportion of the most expensive streets in the country, with 18 of the top 20, over half of which are in Kensington and Chelsea.
The survey is not the first to emerge recently outlining how expensive buying in London is.
Recent figures from Zoopla showed the number of homes costing over £1 million increased by 11 per cent in 2010 - more than twice the national rate of increase.
