Flats to rent in Ealing may be popular as London missed empty homes fall
New statistics have revealed the number of empty homes in England has fallen, but this new downward trend is least likely to benefit London and the south.
Data from Halifax has shown there was a three per cent drop in the tally of residences lying empty for six months or longer in 2001, taking the figure to a three-year low of 295,519.
However, it is least likely to be the south benefitting from this, amounting to only 1.6 per cent of such homes in the region, while 61 per cent of them are in the north of England.
This may suggest finding property to rent in the London borough of Ealing is a better bet than hoping for empty homes in London to become available to buy.
Cyclists may be among those keen to find property in Ealing, as last week saw Transport for London and the capital's Mayor Boris Johnson announcing a £4 million budget for next year to improve local transport, including facilities for cyclists.

Those looking to live in Ealing and other parts of London will be less likely than people dwelling elsewhere in Britain to benefit from a drop in the number of empty homes, as there are fewer of them in the south.
