Could UK's housing problems make people consider flats to rent instead?
Many people in the UK could be tempted by flats to rent in the London borough of Kingston-upon-Thames, as the majority of them are likely to think the UK has housing problems.
This is according to the results of a new survey, which found 96 per cent of people in the country believe there are issues within the industry.
Conducted by YouGov for the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML), it found young people not having enough money to make a purchase was considered to be the biggest hurdle by 80 per cent of respondents.
CML chief economist Bob Pannell said: "The survey found that, on balance, people expressed support for tighter lending criteria. But their high level of concern about would-be first-time buyers sits very uneasily with this."
A total of 37 per cent of individuals cited the cost of moving house as being a problem within the market.
Stephen Mills, business development director for Mivan Prime, recently claimed there is only a limited amount of activity in the local housing market.
